He went 168.4 on May 12. But he was committed to his own deal I have read.
PS A TV personality lapped at 135 and hit 168 on the straight in one of the paxton cars. Whom was this spirited amateur?

hmmm, you gave me more info than I knew (did't know thew car in the photo was a replica)....
Interesting the combination of cars that they tried over the years. Roger Huntington did a small section on it in "Design nad Development of the Indycar" - bottom line is it was faster in the turns but slower on the straights so it worked out to be an average car....
