The first Metro 6R4 Lurgan Park Challenge brought in only two entries after some drivers had to pullout for various reason.
Despite only the two entries they where quality ones in being multiple Irish champion in Rallying and Rallycross Dromara's Denis Biggerstaff.
The other Metro was driven by the son of well known Irishman Frank O'Mahony, Brian who is usually seen competing in his Renault S1600 with John Higgins.

After chatting to Denis Biggerstaff on the Friday before the event he told the Metro 6R4 Online News website that he had been waiting for a dog ring from a UK supplier but it had not come in time, so he had to fit an older one in.
He also said the car had not been out in five years so he would take it steady hoping it would get round the park, but after suffering clutch failure on ss3 he was pushed into service where his team tried to rectify the problem but they ran out of time.
This was a sad end as there was only the one Metro left competing and it would of been good to see more out the word from the crowd was they enjoyed the sight and sound of both cars with some commenting it was a long time since they had seen a 6R4 been driven properly around the park.
In the end Brian and John finished 7th O/A with a total time of 16.26.6

John Higgins co-driver to Brian O'Mahony told the site
"I would just like to thank you for organising the Metro event as it was the best excuse for giving Brian and myself an unforgetable days rallying! thank you.

I hope we can defend our "Crown" next yr!

    John".

Hopefully now that the first one has ran it might encourage more Metro drivers to come and compete next year if the organisers want to run this again.
My thanks must go to William Fullerton and Barry Taggart and all at North Armagh Motor Club for allowing 6R4 Challenge to run at their event and to Scott Coursey of Rallybuzz.com for his generous cheque of £250 awarded to the winners along with the £50 for the fastest Metro stage time from Metro 6R4 Online News. It is hoped a bigger prize fund can be had for next year.
These prize funds where the idea of both site owners as the Motor Club had their own awards for class and overall challenge winners.
    Heres to 2011.
