Help with CMR2 patch

Can anyone tell me why the CMR2 patch I've downloaded won't install its self? Everytime I click on install patch it says 'failed to open CMR2.exe for updating'

Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have installed CMR2 into the standard folder? (program files/codemasters/CMR2)
Try to run the patch from the folder your CMR2.exe is located.
Perhaps it will work.

I had the same problem, but I found out that my CMR2.exe file was "write protected", I removed that feature and then the patch worked fine.

Now i'm trying to play the game but it says wrong disc inserted, when i've got the CMR2 disc in! WTF is all that about?!

Had that problem too, get a no-cd crack, that will solve it..
