Carroll talking with IRL and F-1 teams

According to numerous reports Adam Carroll, fresh off his A1GP championship is talking to several teams in F-1 and apparently more than one IRL team, and those negotations might be a bit more serious from what I'm reading.
Carroll, who also has vast GP2 experience, was in phenomenal form throughout the campaign and is rumoured to be on course to earn an F1 race seat for the 2010 campaign, possibly with the proposed Lola team.
The Portadown racer, however, is also being heavily linked with a possible move to the Indy Racing League but, either way, Carroll’s progression would make Gallagher glow with pride.
“If Adam was to launch his career into IRL or F1, we’d be the first people to congratulate him and support him because, after two years with us, it would be a great result for him to go upwards into competing in races like the Indy 500 or in Formula 1 events,” Gallagher told setanta.com.

This is why its great the split ended. The IRL, probably for the first time in its existance, is being looked at as a viable, high-profile career option. Carroll is among the top of the non F-1 drivers in Europe right now, and the fact that the Indy 500 is being mentioned in the same breath as F-1 does wonders for the series' crediblity.

I hope he gets something somewhere, he's a great driver. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have too much sponsorship and I'm a little concerned that he'll go the way of Pantano.

I'll be perfectly honest here, I've rated Carroll for quite a while now and followed his progress.

I would SERIOUSLY doubt anyone in F1 is looking at him straight away for a race seat. More likely, they would want him to do a year in GP2 first. However I never saw that 'sparkle' in his previous GP2 attempts that his other results would suggest he has.

I think the now reunited IndyCar is a viable alternative to GP2 for drivers on the career ladder, HOWEVER I'm far from convinced someone would make the step from IndyCars straight into an F1.

But, on the plus side, having drivers with 'recognised' names like Carroll will certainly make me pay more attention to IndyCar (currently I watch about every other race), and that surely can only be a good thing

Good luck to him. I watched the final race in A1 Grand Prix and he was brilliant.

Errr He's done GP2 already. Didn't he say he had enough of it?

Honestly, I'm an A1GP hater but if his accolade makes people stand up and take notice then all the better. I really hope he goes on to better things. I followed him since F3 and deserves to be racing at top level motorsports.

Yeah, he's been in and out of the GP2 washing machine and is looking for something new. If Viso and Conway can come over, so can Carroll.

I think he could be a good replacement for Mutoh at AGR. He has the skills to fit into a big-3 team. However, I'd rather see a third American in at AGR who has a shot to win the races, someone like J.R. Hildebrand.
