    ISC Pre-tax loss of £4m...

    This is an article taken from The Daily Telegraph from Wednesday, which is quite intersting;

    World rallying rights holder crashes into red

    "The fortunes of ISC, holder of the commercial rights to motorsport's WRC, have gone into reverse, according to it's latest accounts.
    Results released this month show that a dent in the value of the sport's commercial rights sent turnover tumbling 40% to £8.8m in 2006. This left the business with a £4m pre-tax loss - down from a £250,000 profit the previous year.

    Must admit I didn't know just how bad the profits were, I knew the sport was struggling , but these show just how poorly the WRC is.

    Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

    Well luckily DR has gone back to Subaru, and the useless elements of ISC have been weedled out by Good Management now that N1 TV has taken over... as long as the FIA swing the right way in the next weeks, the sport is at last on the way back up.

    Thanks for that note of optimism.

    I'm not surprised by the mismanagement of the WRC, which has lead to losses.
    The FIA needs to realize that other motorsports besides F1 and give them the necessary attention in order for them to flourish. ISC's losses are not entirely the fault of the FIA, but the consequences of stupid rules are now being felt.

    People need to be intrigued into rallying again. Market the product, grab sponsors, and give people what they want in order to enjoy rallying.

    Well if you call mismanagement….
    816 million viwers.
    Total number of broadcasts and hours up by 40%
    Coverage increased 20%
    Free access website for TV and Radio.
    New manufacture team with more to come next year
    …then you must have quite a stringent view of things!

    I would admit that being bailed out by NorthOne last year was not ISC finest hour, but any sport takes time to change rules and formats. ISC improving the sports visibility and just because we have no British Driver who has the talent/money to be part of the top flight should not discourage TV, Magazine and Radio coverage - it is the WORLD Rally Championships after all.
    New teams and sponsorships deals are being rumoured and announced almost every month.

    If ISC posted a £4m profit then that’s the time to start moaning!

    I've never actually trusted the 'claimed' TV figures - over optimistic in my view. I'm not as optimistic as you are though - yes there is a new team - Suzuki - but they're struggling, and getting very little coverage.
    I do agree about the lack of British coverage just because there is no top line Brit driver. That shouldn't matter at all; before Lewis Hamilton came along there wasn't a Brit challenging for the F1 title - yet that didn't stop the coverage. Didn't hear one mention over the weekend on National radio networks.

    Well if Chandler and co get their way over the calendar then a lot more Europeans are going to have to watch tv as they wont be able to see their home events live for a couple of seasons so viewing figures are bound to go up!

    A couple of local station do updates in the sports news. I asked them to do this - nice to be updated whist being dragged around doing the shopping on a Saturday morning
