non-technical answer from a non-technical person - I don't think the rally suits Hyundai more than Toyota. Yesterday, Toyotas had a worse road positions, today they show equal pace. I think it is a rally where the car development does not matter that much (especially compared to tarmac rallies).

From RC2 fields, Virves vs Mikkelsen is also interesting to follow.

... but following Virves's splits is quite a nerve-wracking thing to do, as quite often splits are missing and there is just wonder - is he off or there are just no split info.

I don't think anyone outside of Hyundai can give a proper answer, but at the end of the day the bad performance of the Hyundai has to have a lot to do with the way the car works the tyres and my conclusion therefore would be that those issues are related to weight distribution and suspension geometry (I know, very specific....). Their gravel geometry must be less bad, but the point made about them cleaning and Toyotas not, is probably a big factor.

The I20 for some reason needs abrasive roads to work. Even in smooth gravel events they had problems in the past

    He's quite impressive.

Evans now ~9s behind McErlean, I think he might get him this afternoon. But 36s to Katsuta, who has two notches of road position, looks very difficult.

    Evans runs right before Katsuta.
