Here's a Tatra Dakar truck on asphalt (even if title says Kamaz). Fun, but definitely much slower than Rally3 and Rally4. And holy smokes for the spectators.

It's a bit off topic, since I don't think anyone is considering Dakar trucks for WRC, but ok

Nowadays Im fascinated with those CrossCars, UTVs, LightWeight, SxS, Buggys...
BUT they would have to make them faster and more nimble/responsive. Idk how much these modifications would add to the machine... or weight. Those Dakar LightWeight cars are 800k (Rally2s are 1.200kg?). But VISUALLY, thats what I imagine when I think about off road racing.
But yeah, rally goes for tarmac too, then these things become weird on road.
Let FIA decide what to do. For sure they will know what to do...............................................

Apart from them not being related to any road car, I see those things as for OFF road, as in outside of even gravel roads. Dunes, steppes, gravel trails that are too rough for rally cars like we see in baja and cross country events... or Autocross tracks for cross carts.
Don't you get bored by the fact that cross carts all look the same, UTVs as well, SxS all look very similar etc? At least Xsara vs 206 or Puma vs Yaris, you can't really mix them up. It would have been nice to have some modern Lancer and Impreza shaped cars, though.

i still cant picture the image of fia talking to hyundai, skoda, lancia/citroen about the kit's conditions, hearing 3 "NOPE"s and then announcing it anyway. theres more to that, im sure. it cant be... they cannot be that idiot.
i understand that going for these wrc27 was a move with some thoughts. r5s are getting old, no one is planning to build a replacemente, hybrids are expensive, evs sucks, so it is an idea, even if people dont like it atm... its a concept.
but then "oh then we do these kits, but only if you race full time with 2 cars"..... and they all say "nah, mate, sorry, no budget. we want to sell cars and kits only" - then fia says: "well, lets have toyotas only then, thanks".
there must be more on this, otherwise this is 'peak stupidity'.

It looks like that Kit was made just for M-Sport to stay. At that point they only care about start numbers. And they will barely get to the 8 cars, as it is now, but with one exception. There will be no battle between "different" teams, if we can say that or drivers from "different" teams. Just battle at Toyota, and other will be just there sitting at the end of our pickems, if they will get lucky. Kankunnen said that Toyota is banning team orders and that their drivers will have freedom to fight each other... It's funny, because honestly team orders wouldn't be needed anyway.
We can all agree that those who pull the string at WRC top posses incredible stupidity, because at that point when everything is unclear, still nothing agreed officialy and half year of biggest transition on modern era of rallying, they simply don't postpone everything until promoter affair is clear, signed and deal done. And then gaving the teams 2 years of development time. How hard is that? Teams know that. Everybody knows that. Toyota isn't to blame that they want to be ready. But if everybody will leave and they will be total dominant force, they will leave too at the end.

I was in 3 special stages yesterday and I can say that I was impressed by the rally 2 cars, the Lancias definitely need to improve the sound since it was very quiet. and 1 observation much less...
