This is being pushed, and it's a FIA decision which is fair to call ridiculous.

This has honestly surprised me, more because the reasoning is the obligation to do the full championship which has nothing to do with the car. Lancia have been yammering on for years that they will 'return to the top' and only weeks ago said their '2027 plan was on track' or whatever. Now they're showing they were always nowhere.

I never expected Hyundai or Skoda, but this has left me wondering.

They could simply go for Rally2 as top class, without the silly WRC27 made up funnymobiles or needs for kits. Yes, we know it won't be great for national championships. Yes, they will look slower, naturally.
Toyota doesn't like it? They can leave as a works team. Teams can sign up for the manufacturer championship like in the 2000s, when we had Stobart, Munchi's, Kronos, BRR etc, now we'd have Skoda Toksport, Lancia PH-Sport etc. Rest of Rally2 fields are privateers. Short term solution.

They really speedrun the decline of WRC.

The different suspension of the WRC27 I would assume. The Hyundai camp told that they expect the 27 to be much better in this regard.

All this is just bandaids to somehow get out of an imposible situation.

Let's imagine the complains already "The 27 is much better in X condition, I can't win!" (or vice-versa)

Didn't here people say FIA and manufacturers probably talk about this for months already... Well, looks like quite otherwise...

skoda is not a wrc manufacter. it's years they focus only on customer market, and ruled out 2027 car and even being in the top championship from the very beginning. m-sport in, lancia is evaluating (declared interest in wrc 2027), hiunday being hiunday.

No need to hurt yourself, people who like funny prototypes could always go follow Extreme H or whatever its name is. Dakar has some of them too, and if one likes circuit racing, there's plenty of options.

Another alternative is to let rally go to an amateur level with almost historic cars. That would also get rid of sillymobile lovers who want to see them "rally" in the US.
