I’m aware, that’s why it would be nice that once every few years they’d run it in the Autumn like they did in 2021 and then have night stages there.

You cant assume that. Maybe they all realised how tough it was and kept within their limits as the risks were too high.

Maybe there's something inherently wrong in this sentence. Did they switch all the gear 40/50 years ago or have we just become used to it?

A true rally should be one journey and you should finish it with the same parts as you left, excepting direct replacement and repair.

Having driven the Gran Canaria roads and watched the event when it was part of the ERC, IMO its far from boring but each to their own.

I'm more interested in the WRC 2 battle and its illuminating to see that the local Canary Islands championship leaders Lucky and Enrique Cruz are quite a bit off the regulars just goes to show how strong the pace is at the top of the championship

I should add that it is more interesting to watch this rally "in real" than on TV. And with the second sentence - dont forget that Lucky and Enrique Cruz has never drove Hankook before...
