Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España to Feature 60 Entrants
60 teams from 20 nationalities for the Golden Jubilee of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España
The 50th anniversary of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España will boast a spectacular and extensive field, with a total of 60 vehicles taking part in the second World Championship event in the history of the Archipelago.
Teams from 20 different nationalities have registered to compete on the roads of Gran Canaria, where fans will once again witness the full WRC (World Rally Championship) grid, consisting of 10 top-tier category vehicles.
Among them is the Hyundai i20N Rally1, in which Dani Sordo and Cándido Carrera will make their highly anticipated WRC return in front of their home crowd. The 2024 World Champions, Thierry Neuville / Martijn Wydaeghe, and Adrien Fourmaux / Alexandre Coria will complete the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team lineup.
Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT will once again deploy its full arsenal for the Spanish round of the calendar, entering five Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 units. Sébastien Ogier / Vincent Landais have chosen to return to the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España, alongside Elfyn Evans / Scott Martin (current championship leaders), Sami Pajari / Marko Salminen, Takamoto Katsuta / Aaron Johnston, and Oliver Solberg / Elliott Edmondson, who will compete for the first time before the Canarian public in a top-flight vehicle.
M-Sport Ford World Rally Team rounds out the head of the entry list with the Ford Puma Rally1s of Joshua McErlean / Eoin Treacy and Jon Armstrong / Shane Byrne. Back this season in the WRC elite, they return to roads where they achieved significant results during their time in the ERC (European Rally Championship).
As in 2025, the Rally2 category remains the most crowded with 34 crews and a strong presence of national teams, including several Canarian competitors who will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España with their home fans.
The Rally3 and Rally4 categories add new contenders, with 7 and 6 competitors respectively, joined by three Rally5 vehicles to complete the fabulous entry list for this historic event.

Minor changes to the itinerary due to the storm that hit the Canary Islands for a week. Only the direction of one stage changes; it will now be "Mogán-La Aldea."
RALLYE ISLAS CANARIAS-RALLY DE ESPAÑA. WRC - FIA World Rally Championship.
MODIFICATIONS TO THE ITINERARY.
The 50th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España adopts an unprecedented format, consisting for the first time of four days of competition (April 23 - 26). This will allow spectators to experience the WRC (World Rally Championship) action with greater intensity than ever before.
The innovative ‘BP Ultimate – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’ show stage will kick off the itinerary on Thursday afternoon, hours after the ‘Santa Brígida’ shakedown (6.26 km), and will also complete the following day's leg. This will be one of the main attractions of the Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España’s golden anniversary, marking a significant milestone: it will be the first time an international event in our country holds a super special stage inside a football stadium.
The damage caused in numerous areas of Gran Canaria by the recent DANA (severe storm) that hit the archipelago forced the organizing committee to react with skill and agility to reconstruct the itinerary originally planned for Friday, April 24th.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and all local city councils, the first full day of the 50th Rally Islas Canarias – Rally de España will continue to feature a three-stage loop, which introduces several updates.
As planned, the section will open with ‘Valleseco - Artenara’, whose starting point has been moved forward compared to the first published itinerary. The stage route will also be longer in its final section.
‘Tejeda - San Mateo’ moves to the middle of the loop and becomes the longest stage of the day, potentially playing a decisive role during the first leg.
Friday's sections will be completed by ‘Mogán - La Aldea’, run in the opposite direction of what was initially intended; thus, it becomes a completely new stage for the WRC teams.
The organizing committee, in collaboration with the FIA and WRC Promoter, has reworked Friday’s roadbook based on the new circumstances, ensuring optimal alternative routes and more comfortable, accessible paths to both the stage starts and the Service Park at the Gran Canaria Stadium.
The itinerary designed for the Saturday and Sunday legs remains exactly the same as presented in February, with a total of more than 300 timed kilometers.
The longest stage of the rally continues to be ‘Moya - Gáldar’, the third and final stage of the loop on the penultimate day, which will open with ‘Maspalomas’ and ‘Arucas - Firgas - Teror’.
The pillars of Sunday's leg will be two stages completely unknown to the WRC teams: ‘Ingenio - Telde - Valsequillo’, another major addition to the route, and ‘Santa Lucía - Agüimes’, designated for the first time as the ‘Wolf Power Stage’.
This special distinction will place the spotlight on the bonus-point stage and its decisive role in the competition, serving as the grand finale to the iconic 50th edition of the Rallye Islas Canarias – Rally de España.
