Evans can consider himself very lucky that his 2 main competitors had to retire for no fault of their own. Was it said what caused the broken suspension?

If they could just raise the cars, strenghten the suspension, put extra spare wheels in or on the cars and make something to protect the engine bay from mud, this could be a suitable rally. or just...
