Forum very slow. Upgrade ?
We have noticed the Forum has become quite slow recently, especially in the evenings (UK/CET).
Can this be fixed or does vBulletin need
upgrading ?
I found this on their own Community Forum:
A Vbulletin 6 license is currently $179 USD.
A Pro upgrade where we carry out the upgrade work for you is from an additional $149 USD for a 3Gb database.
You can view and purchase these products from within your Vbulletin.com account at https://www.vbulletin.com/en/purchases and you can also contact our sales department on sales@vbulletin.com or call them on 1-877-326-6444 (toll-free US/Canada only) 9 am to 4 pm Pacific (GMT-8), Monday to Friday.
Best Regards,
Mike

I've noticed multiple times now, the forum is very sluggish in the evening. Then after 23:00 UTC (00:00 CET), like clockwork, it becomes instantly loading and instantly usable again. I don't know when it goes slow again.
I suspect the server.

I only come on here late, after 00:00 UK time. A few months ago the speed was dreadful. I would often have another browser tab open so I had something to read while pages on here loaded and posting anything was impossible. It has been much better over the last few weeks.
I wonder if the server is hosting anything else that's taking up all the capacity until around midnight local time in central or eastern Europe and then when they've all gone to bed this place works again.

It's a shared server, located in France, with 167 other sites. I won't link them because lots of trash, but found some loading no problem as I type, meanwhile this forum is sluggish. So the server may be fine but could be server settings allocating this account or partition, or could be PHP stuff for just this account, or could be the vbulletin installation. Been too long since I amateurishly dibbled in that dabble so would defer to anyone more familiar with the matter.
Maybe it is unfixable without loss.

It is on a dedicated server not shared with other sites. However the server is around 12 years old now, so fair to say it is showing its age.
Problem is it's one of those things that needs a lot of work as there's no point upgrading the server without the php version and that in turn needs new software etcPlease 'like' our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/motorsportforums
