An agreement has been reached between WRC Promoter and Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spain to extend the event's place on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar through the 2027 - 2029 seasons, with the option of a further extension.
The new three-year commitment follows Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spain's successfuldebut on the WRC calendar in 2025 and reflects a strengthened long-term partnership between WRC Promoter and the rally's key stakeholders, including local, regional and national authorities.
Staged onthe fast, flowing asphalt roads of Gran Canaria,Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spain has quickly established itself as a distinctive pure* Tarmac challenge within the WRC,combining unique stages with strong local support and a proven organisational structure.
Simon Larkin,Senior Events Director for WRC Promoter, said the agreement underlined the rally's growing importance to the championship.

"The quality of the event, the character of the roads and the commitment shown by all local, regionaland national partners give us great confldence in its long-term future on the calendar. Securing this agreement through to 2029 is an important step in building stability and continuity for the championship.
•such was the economic impact to the islands from the thousands of visitors who carne for the rally and stayed, that all local stakeholders were keen to immediately secure the long-term future for the WRC in Canarias; he added.
Germán Morales,President of the Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spain Organising Committee, added:"lt is a source of pride to receive the trust and recognition of WRC Promoter, allowing the Rally Islas Canarias - Rally of Spainto remain closely linked to the future of WRC. The signing of this
multi-year contract represents an unprecedented achievement in the history of Canary lslands sportive activities. Thanks to the support of all institutions,RallyIslas Canarias - Rally of Spain will be consolidated over the coming years as a benchmark event within WRC".Last edited by 106 sport; 8th January 2026 at 16:25.

The organizing committee of the Rally Islas Canarias - Rally de Espańa wishes to express its gratitude to all the institutions and sponsors whose support and commitment have made it possible to extend the agreement with WRC Promoter, ensuring the WRC (World Rally Championship) remains firmly established in Gran Canaria for years to come. We are proud and delighted to have each and every one of them on board.

This is How Real Rally Stages Feel | GR Yaris Gran Canaria
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKqTaC7M398&t=2s
In this video, I take part in a real rally driving experience in Gran Canaria together with Adriano Pires from Pires Motorsport, driving the same technical mountain roads used during Rally Islas Canarias (@wrc).
Gran Canaria has a long history in international rallying, with roads known for their grip, elevation changes, and incredible flow. Together with Adriano, we dive into what makes these stages so special, the local car culture on the island, and what it’s like to drive a Toyota GR Yaris prepared for real rally conditions while still being street legal.
Adriano shares the story behind @PIRASMotorsport why he moved from Italy to Gran Canaria, and how this rally driving experience was built to give drivers a genuine taste of rally without crossing the line into something unsafe or artificial.
This is not a rental car experience. This is about feel, focus, technique, and respect for the road.
If you ever visit Gran Canaria and want to experience rally driving the right way, this is as close as it gets.
