Kopecky claimed back the Czech title after a battle with Wagner.

Was the Czech Championship shorter this year or am i imagining that?

Also, what is going on with the Czech youngsters? I expected more from Stritesky and Cais.. they both seem to have gone off the boil a bit.

Not so much shorter. But because of CER, Pacejov has moved to mid September. Priority for Stritesky was ERC, Erik has moved to the new car (and here on Pacejov he was starting on MRF tyres).
