Stuart Turner, former Competition Manager at BMC and later Director of Motorsport at Ford has passed away.

An accountant by training, he started in motorsport as a navigator in club rallies in the early 1950's. He made a huge contribution to rallying. He managed the BMC team that took the Mini Cooper S to Monte Carlo Rally victory and managed the Ford team during the successes of the Escort. He was also a great after-dinner speaker and never forgot his motorsport club roots, even speaking at club dinners during his time as Fords Motorsport Director, when other committments allowed.

A special character of the sort that doesn't come along often enough. He will be greatly missed.
