Winning the 2024 BRC in two different cars was a good achievement. I dont think there's anything to be gained by defending the title and with fatherhood on the horizon it makes sense to take a break.
A proper WRC2 attempt takes so much money and the top guys are well-backed with testing too, I cant see anyone on a tight budget being able to compete.

Giovanni Trentin WRC2 2025, starting in Gran Canaria.

The precocity and immediacy in moving up the ladder are still an asset in today's rallying reality, another example of which is young Giovanni Trentin's bid for the 2025 season.
The 17-year-old Italian driver will make his World Rally Championship debut this year with a total of six events in the WRC2 category in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 for the Italian Delta Rally team, with experienced Italian navigator Alessandro Franco on the right-hand side.
Trentin will start his World Championship campaign in the WRC2 category at Rally Islas Canarias (Gran Canaria) on the last weekend of April. This will not only be his debut in a World Championship event, but also the first time he will drive a Rally2 car in an international event, a type of car he has only driven twice in two rallyshows. In his only two full seasons so far, 2023 and 2024, the young Italian driver has only accumulated kilometres and experience in national competitions aboard a Rally4 car. In his debut season, he did manage to win the junior championship in the Latvian National Rally Championship, demonstrating his ability on the fast gravel tracks. In 2023, he visited other Baltic countries such as Estonia and Lithuania.
