Typical Finland. When you go off, you hit a tree even if it's the only tree in otherwise open area.

Fortunately you have birches everywhere. They are pretty flexible and make the impacts less dangerous.

Young trees are but as a carpenter, I know that birch is harder wood than evergreens. But what matters to carpenter's blade is of little consequence to 1200kg rally car traveling at speed.

⚠️ Ott and Martin went off the road on SS3 of Rally Finland. Ott is ok, however Martin will be taken to hospital for further checks. We will provide more updates when possible.

Yes, birch is not soft wood, and good rootsystem. Lots of small birches can be a nice speedbrake, one big is not.
