I think for Lappi personally, when it comes to getting a contract renewal and maybe some additional drives the following year, "winner of Rally Finland" will count.

The Saturday/Sunday WDC points don't matter to Lappi.

Are his Sunday times important to Hyundai's WCC points, since Tanak/Neuville both reset and he goes back to being their third driver?

I'd like it that way too, but it's not like its some universal truth. You could extend that logic to the championship and say the champion should always be the guy who took the least amount of time to finish all rallies

The real question is "will it stop people cruising to the power stage, who would have done so under the old rules?"

yes.. but if you have good lead from Saturday, you are always cruising, you dont wanna bin it. I would say that with the new rules it became more about speed than about reliability.

This event will teach us a thing or two about the psychological impact of the new points system.
Kalle has all to gain for the team and can adopt a win-or- nothing approach. Hyundai drivers are treading a thin line between drivers points and manufacturer benefit

Time will tell, but I think I'll take that trade. Too often, I got up early on Sunday morning and thought "might as well have gone for a walk and come back for the power stage".

i am wondering how Hyundai will choose the drivers for the next Rallyes, if they have to choose between a Rally Sweden Winner and a guy who is fighting against Rally2 Cars...
Juha Kankkunen: "The speed was o.K., but the corner was to tight"
Marcus Grönholm: "... tell corrado .... three gears are enough..! "
