Yes, nothing new that Hyundai are again playing catch up with their Rally2 car. Suninen has made the same comment in Feb 2022 and Feb 2023.

But difference is that there are really upgrades in process. Thats also reason why Hyundai didnt wanted to have any official car in Monte and Sweden. Ok, there will be Lindholm in Sweden with older spec, but they are betting everything to that upgrades.

But it could be too late if they want to pick up any customer sales. Even M-Sport have moved ahead of Hyundai and got their Fiesta development done and shown its now competitive.

For most of the season it is ok and upgrades will come in time. And their customers knows about it...

I am still not sure about the Yaris, and if it is on par with the Fabia yet. Maybe it is closer on snow.

Not the early starters though. Irish ex-Champion Josh Moffett has switched from the i20 to the Citroen C3 for this season. Others there have also gone to the C3 and the two BRC Champs who have gone to the ITRC this year have preferred the Fiesta.

R5 is the original name for the Rally2 class. The 208 R5 were built under the same rules but they are outdated now with their development long abandoned. Fiesta R5 and 208 R5 were the very first cars of the class.

With regard to the Lancia Rally2 rumours, both stories I’ve seen on Autocar about it only mention it as an EV:

A mild hybrid version of the Lancia Ypsilon is expected indeed.
