Clearly this isn’t good on the MSport side, and just another catastrophe in season full of them, but I can’t have this as a ‘good’ rule. There are only a few Rally 1 cars as it is and now 1 is starting the event 5 minutes down and with no chance. The penalty seems totally disproportionate given the event hasn’t even started competitively.
I know the rule has been around for years as I recall Sordo having the same penalty on Rally GB maybe 10 years ago or more when at Citroen and I thought it was ridiculous then.
This seems like a rule where the FIA have got the shotgun, aimed it squarely at their own foot and pulled the trigger.

I would advocate a points deduction instead, at least then the event itself isn’t compromised and Tanak or whoever could still go out and compete properly.

Ott probably knows the championship wasn't realistic anyway, but what a shame not seeing him fighting at the top not even in his home rally. Maybe in Finland.

    Totally expected answer from him:

“There’s no point shouting at each other or getting angry at each other, we can’t change anything about the position we’re in at the moment.” Millener

Still feels like a bad dream. Unbelievable what kind of bad season this has been.

Millener revealed that it is unlikely the team will be able to carry out a thorough investigation into the problem until later this year due to the regulations.

"I would say it has surprised us," Millener added.

"Everything goes through its pre-event checks and everything is thoroughly checked and that was all passed and everything worked in the UK, so we are very surprised to see a problem very early on.

"But it is one of those things that we won't be able to look at for a considerable time as the engines are sealed for effectively the season. It is a tough one to swallow."

This sucks for the fans for the WRC for Tanak and for Ford.

On the other hand there are other people to watch in this rally and it's not all decided so still curious to see what happens.

Gutted for Tanak and the Estonian fans. From the hope and expectation of the start of the season it has been utterly disappointing and underwhelming so far, but for his home rally to be effectively over before it begins is very hard to take.
Getting more and more worried for Tanak's WRC future now.

So apparently Tänak had a feeling something is wrong yesterday, but team decided not to change te engine before shakedown.
And also you can see he has 0 motivation for driving.

what the actual fuck. I mean, seriously, why? When one of the most technically skilled drivers expresses that something feels wrong, and you choose to ignore it, you can't be surprised when you end up in this situation.
