Unfortunately more of a 'special edition' than a performance car...

    Auto Expess verdict:
In all forms, the latest Fabia is a challenger to the very best superminis. Some will certainly see a benefit to the extra power of this 1.5 TSI engine over the existing 1.0-litre unit but don’t let the looks of the Monte Carlo fool you; this is not a remotely sporty hatchback.

Just a proper hot-hatch version would be something, never mind a homologation special.

I never understood why they promoted their brand via small, fast, exciting rally cars but dont market such road cars.

Fabia Monte Carlo has the same exact engine of the most powerful "normal" version, 1.0 TSI with 110 hp, the difference is just in the looks.
Fabia Sport Monte Carlo has 1.5 TSI with 150 hp.
It depends where you draw the line to consider it sporty or brilliant or whatever. Already the 1.0 TSI with 110 hp has basically the same performance as a Swift Sport.

When they stopped producing the last vRS version it was cited that ‘the market doesn’t want it’ or something like that - but that was back when the vRS, Polo GTI and Ibiza Cupra had the 1.4 TSI engine and DSG ‘box.

A mid-life refresh to the latter two brought a 1.8 TSI and manual gearbox. I always thought the real reason ‘the market didn’t want it’ was because they tried offering a small hot hatch with an automatic gearbox! A bit of a moot point as now that market really has dwindled in size

It could even be a standard engine
