    Why are the roads in such bad condition? Are the new hybrid cars tearing up the roads more?

    And given that Pirelli have no competition, can they not just build a tyre strong enough for the conditions with no concerns over weight? Or can no conventional tyre withstand this (ie without mousse)

    They probably could but teams are concerned about the weight. If tyre weight goes up, they have to strengthen whole suspension assembly proportionally (engineer-guys in this forum can give you specifics).
