21st January 2022, 10:01 #501I think we can dismiss fears that the Hyundai is slow now.

Both Neuville and Tänak that has a shed load of experience are right up there on this last stage and the first one they were all everywhere.

Solberg should not be expected high up.

Personnally, on the small amount we have seen, I think it is the best balance speed/reliability at this stage of the season, as in 2017 (but as I said before, it is a special rally and above all, the stage of development of each brand is not the same so they might have less improvement margin).
Their issue, compared with 2017, should be the quality of the drivers which is not a surprise:
 - I’m not sure Breen is a championship-material driver (I hope for him he can reach this level but I’m a bit skeptical on him since his 2018 Citroen season) even if it was the most consistent choice as far as big names prefered to stay in Toyota and Hyundai and they did not reach an agreement with Lappi.
 - Greensmith is better than some expects but at best, he can become a Ostberg-type driver (except in snow where he is quite bad)
 - Fourmaux has great potential but his consistency is clearly short at the moment (maybe normal, it took a while to Tanak to become consistent)

The Toyota is probably also very close.
The Hyundai seems to have some issues in reliability of the hybrid system but are they at the same level of development? Probably not considering the rumors so a top4-top5 performance with Ogier-Loeb in 1-2 would not be a bad result for the championship.Last edited by Danny0405; 21st January 2022 at 10:17.

Why do they cut away from SS4 without showing any Rally2 cars when there is 35m to go until the next stage?
