    Very wet conditions for the first cars and a drying road (Gascou was 20th on the road) made him leading after day 1. But still a good result!
    Consani damaged his car on a jump, Rossel lost 2min with an off on SS2 so should have won without that.
    Mathieu Franceschi was amazing with even a 4th time overall, he wasa 8th overall after day 1.

    Loeb 3rd overall with the 306 maxi.Delecour retired from gear box while was about 20th overall.
    Panizzi is 15th overall
