not a bad stage from Tänak at all this time comparing to other split times so far

With Taka, I think it is more of a confidence thing. Unless he had a major setup change that worked. Consider his times versus Greensmith . On both days they had similar road position. Yesterday times were similar except where Taka made a mistake. On SS10 he is 1 sec/km faster!

Are there different compunds for the Hard tyres, to choose from? Or same compound?

A bit of history has just been made. I think we would have to go back to 1980s Safari Rallies to find a WRC stage win by a Japanese driver (excluding SSS). EDIT: I should check that he hasn't won a mixed up stage two years ago....
