That's misconception. High speed stages are where engine counts the least. Engine playes the highest role in slow twisty events instead.
It's not like the main difference in the engines would be in peak power. The real difference is in power band (or torque curve if you like). It means that where you really get to see the difference is when you have plenty of slow/medium corners where the engine needs to accelerate over wide RPM ranges. In very fast stages it is much easier to keep the engine in the peak power RPM range (naturally it's the easiest on a straight and it's getting harder and harder with how twistier the stage gets).Stupid is as stupid does. Suninen:
We are having good rhythm in slow places, but we can't drive fast on the straights. We are giving everything.
We are missing corners - like sixth gear, long uphills, I am flat out. We can't make a difference. There are no corners to make a difference."

Again, Oliver fastes from 3 split to finish...all the stages today. Not bad. Hope it will not end in a snowbank....

We maybe have to reconsider Neuville's pace on high speed events. Now when he had a more competitive car, then the speed was speed there, previously the Hyundai was just so bad and it didn't give him...
