In theory you are correct. But this is the price that we as human kind choose to pay for those lives that would end if we didn't take any measures.

The mortality rate of seasonal flu is ~0.1%. The mortality rate of corona is undetermined yet, but it is somewhere around 2-3%. The mortality rate of 80+ year-olds is over 15%, would you bring it to your close relatives?
