If its money available, they should hire some of the free drivers, like Tidemand, Meeke, Lappi(?), Paddon, etc, for single outings or whole season in ERC and WRC3.

Maybe Mellor should give Mikkelsen a call, to get him in for a few rallies in either WRC or ERC, to get the car a real test.
He has been quick in many cars, and should give them a good bunch of data and feedback!

Craig would have been a good choice if he hadnt signed for MRF. Won an event in several of the other R5 cars in 2019..

Yes, I guess he wants to keep his ties to Hyundai though.

I can't see Mikkelsen dropping back to a Proton R5 tbh, but Proton/MEM did hire some good drivers during the Satria Neo S2000 era. Would be good to see them do the same again.

Add to that the fact that there’s years and years of data, news stories, forum posts and god knows what else with reference to R5 cars the damage is already done and the FIA can’t un-do all of that and have just confused matters more 😅

Very easy to understand that it´s 2nd fastest rally car.

(Just like Formula1 is fastest and bigger numbers are slower)

When I was young we had:
1,2 and 4
after that
N,A and B
after that
S1600,S2000 and WRC
and so on...

Sometimes names change and life goes on...

But World Rally Cars aren’t going to be called ‘Rally 1s’ are they?

I would even have preferred if they had called the R5 cars WRC2s, but then you have the mess with the WRC2/3 class in the world championship..
