I think todays WRC is on a level that is so equal between cars and drivers, that surfaces and reliability on the cars are the deciders of the whole championship...
It´s not anymore so much about drivers doing heroic performances than how much rolling gravel there is..."Reis vas pät pat kaar vas kut"

Well, car reliability was originally the basis of rallying. Driver speed became a thing then in the 80's.

This year Neuville won Argentina and Tänak Finland first on the road. In Mexico Tänak was second and in Portugal Ogier third. Neuville retired Chile while being third.
