So the Fabia R5 Evo is based on the old road car with a new-style grill, headlights etc fitted, plus mech upgrades ?

The car is based on the same stock car (facelifted bodywork) but it's so much different compared to the previous R5 car that it can not be homologated within the available homologation jokers hence a completely new homologation.

Yep... 5 cars out of 27 built and only 26 have been used competitively.
That's pretty much a 5th of all cars that have actually run.

It's utterly dismal. VW must know by now why this is happening.

Edit: it's completely new built too. This is its first ever competitive outing.
