It can be 6, 9 or 12 months, but I think most of the sportsmen (and women as well, though it's voluntary for them) do no more than 6.

As AnttiL pointed out, it's sort of a special division Kalle's joining, so he most likely doesn't have to skip any rallies due to that assignment.
