It doesn’t really matter if those penalties came from a SSS or SS chicane and I’m not even talking about German rallys. These chicane penalties madness is spreading all over the rally world and something has to be done to stop it.

Don't agree. The penalties must be in place because otherwise drivers tend to ignore the chicanes. As already pointed out the chicanes are not there for fun. They are safety features and as such they shall not be ignored. The whole story with chicanes can be taken more seriously than in WRC where the penalties are more or less random. It is possible to make a system like we have in our country. Here everybody understands why the system is in place and no penalty orgies happen.

Video from the rally full of dramatic saves and big moments
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIBY4M3MCbA
And a photo gallery. Quite a rare situation to see a rallying Mercedes-Benz

Is that a Suzuki Swift S1600 being run as a safety car? at Sachsen Rally? Win to Rovanpera on dirt in places tarmac.

I see Griebel has had a few Skoda R5 drives, is the Peugeot T16 208 R5 inherently slower on tarmac compared to the Skoda R5?Last edited by Zeakiwi; 29th May 2018 at 07:10.

Yes
Yes but I would not call it a surprise.
Yes, it is and even much more slower on gravel.
Griebel won ERC U28 with BRR Škoda last year and Wiegand nearly won ERC against Lappi several years back when he had Škoda Deutschland support. Now they are both more or less good locals who struggle to find money to drive.Stupid is as stupid does. Forrest Gump

Second win in a row for Griebel and the 208! Apparently he's now leading the series with the same points as Dinkel.
