Is that level of R5 interest likely to continue on later rounds?

No!!

A lot of guys just did this rally. Moura will probably be in Azores Rally but maybe in not other event. Guys like Macedo, Rocha, Villanueva just did this one, Meireles Sr. (i20) and the Barros family don't have projects for the whole year. We should remain with 12/13 cars tho

Is that level of R5 interest likely to continue on later rounds?

Besides Portugal Rally (also a CPR round), in events like Açores or Madeira we’ll certainly have strong national and local R5 fields. On the rest of CPR events it seems achievable to get around 12 R5 crews, half of them with serious title options.

Btw, Hunt used a PH Sport DS3. He looked a bit rusty but managed to improve during the rally. We failed to hear about his rally plans; maybe he’s preparing some WRC2 outings and used Fafe as a SD.

Today was the first event of the madeiran championship, the Rali do Sao Vicente, and the favourite driver changed of car(Alexandre Camacho switched from Peugeot to Skoda)but was beaten by Joao Silva driving a DS3 R5 for the first time(he switched from a Clio R3)

Yep, impressive win from Silva (leader since SS1) and nice battle with reigning champ Camacho and former champ Nunes.

Btw, this is Silva 2nd season on the DS3; he was vice champ with it last year. Camacho has replaced the 208 by a Fabia and Nunes was making his debut on a DS, returning to the series in full time mode.

So Cameron Davies and Nabila Tejpar prefered to choose the Rali de Mortagua next week-end rather than the Pirelli International Rally(british rally championship round)

They're going to compete on the 208 Iberica Cup, wich starts at the Rally de Portugal. Mortágua is a good way for them to get used to Portuguese events and to PT Racing, the team running their cup cars.

Dimviii, alongside Katsuta, Arai is also in Mortágua. Interesting to see how Toy juniors will perform against our top drivers!

So Hiroki Arai wins in front of Armindo Araujo and Takamoto Katsuta

Honnestly, it wasn’t a surprise to see Breen dominating our top drivers on last year Rali de Mortágua, but having Arai doing the same this year was a bit shocking. Even Katsuta pace would be enough to get P2, without his SS4 puncture. It’s fair to say that most of our guys had also some issues (punctures for Fontes, Vieira and Araújo, tyre choice for Teodósio and time penalty for Barbosa) still they were never able to cope with Toy’s juniors speed.

Eventually Araújo managed to be the first CPR driver, ahead of Meireles and Vieira. Despite engine troubles Antunes (208) won 2wd class, while Teotónio (Evo IX) was the best N4. Gravel cup won by Matos (Evo IX) and the Centro regional series by Nunes (Impreza N11).
