If you are a marshal and want to take pics then please take your tabard off first, but make sure there is enough of you marshaling the Junction before doing so in that theres enough bods to cover and please dont tell spectators to move away as that is hipocritical

Or marshal one stage then go and take pics as a spectator on another, thats what I have done in the past

I saw the person in question twice and he wasn't taking photos and marshalling at the same time when I saw him.

I have to say I enjoyed this year's event more than last years. Only did Friday night and two stages on Saturday, but I liked the places I went to.

Didn't have a problem with paying a fiver for entry where I went, but I did find the downside to it. Got to Leithholm 1 yesterday in time for the 3rd car to go through, maybe saw another 10 mins of cars going through and then it was cancelled, but that's all part of rallying I suppose.

A few gripes with fellow spectators though. The people who got Langton stopped because they were in a Prohibited area were very stupid. Right behind a 3 bar wooden fence next to the end of a long straight onto a bridge. Then a pair of them moved further along and stood at the bridge exit, before going to sit in a tree around the corner. But it was alright, as they were wearing hi-vis jackets......just like the bloke at Bothwell who was standing on the grass next to the road, rather than in the comparitive safety of the fields like everyone else. Finally, the tosser in the Focus who on the way out of Leithholm, was blocking the road when asking directions . Car behind me beeps it's horn, he thinks it's me, gives me the v-sign, I shrug my shoulders and shout it wasn't me, he does it again, so I blast my horn at him this time and he floors it.

I'm liking the sound of those C2-R2s, especially the one with the cracked exhaust which sounded like a MKII Escort coming towards us from over the crest of the hill.

I think the whole topic of marshals taking pictures is quite honest crap!

I know of a lot of people who complain about the marshals doing their job wrong etc and they dont even marshal themselves. Marshals are experienced enough to know when the right time is to maybe take a step back for 2 or 3 minutes when they're with a group of people and take one or two pictures.
Saying taking a picture is irresponsible and it doesnt matter whether they're with a group of people (not aimed at the person who posted a similar sentence) or not is just ludicrous because when a marshal goes to get something to eat or drink and has to go to the car to get it its the same thing - they're having to briefly take a step back from their duty to do this, at least when they're taking the odd picture they're not away from their post!

It was a yellow C2 if I remember right. Never got any half decent pictures really. Couldn't find a spot at Langton without anyone's head in the way and then it got too dark. Yesterday I had a decent spot at Leitholm, then it was cancelled and then at Bothwell the battery started to die on me.

This is as good as it gets.

Amazing photo from Roy Dempster here showing us why Barry Johnson had to retire after hurting his back. Shocks caught fire too when they burst on landing...
