I still don't get what makes him lucky in this case. It's rallying we're talking about here - it's not about stage times, it's about the end result.

    Toyota/Latvala were lucky

It was an entertaining rally, but for some reason this rally brought out some very silly flippy floppy comments.
    Yes, there were a few:

    Sordo was slow
    Breen was great
    Toyota/Latvala were lucky

too fast. but if I see it correctly, he blocked the wheels under braking and went straight into the tree. perhaps he could have avoided it if he had stopped braking, like most other drivers.

yet, he's only 2:15 slower than ogier. if you look at times from other years, that's not unusually much for monte carlo.

    2016:
    Ogier 3:49:53.1
    Mikkelsen +1:54.5
    Neuville +3:17.9
    Řstberg +4:47.7

    2015:
    Ogier 3:36:40.2
    Latvala +58.0
    Mikkelsen +2:12.3
    Řstberg +2:43.6

    2014:
    Ogier 3:55:14.4
    Bouffier +1:18.9
    Meeke +1:54.3
    Řstberg +3:53.9

It's a Corsica type thing. The stages are winding and long, which makes for large gaps.

It was actually the right-rear suspension that was damaged. This is from when the car spun and the rear end hit the bank on the inside of the corner. Surprisingly enough, the right-front suspension seemed ok.
