Actually, the use of remote controls in full size cars isn't all that uncommon. It's frequently used in movies and television when stunt drivers could be harmed.
But I'm more interested in a true robotic program where the car would be programed into making decisions based on the available data (like a driver, only without insurance).racing-reference.info/showblog?id=1785

Check out that DARPA challenge from a couple of years ago. The first year it was obvious that no vehicles would get very far through the couse, and they didn't. Last year they completed the course but it was dumbed a great deal.

yep, that one was funny, but I liked the 3 used cars under 100 pounds and the 3 porsches too

Top gear was awesome, only for the odd-job challanges, didn't care much for the normal car testing
