Al Kuwari back in the days and now is a big difference. For sure he won't fight for the victory but he is a lot faster than four years a go.

Fontes is one of those hyper talented guys able to win a gravel rally one weekend and be first on a GT or Prototype race the next one. He won every national circuit racing categories before moving to rally and it’s now at the peak of his rally career.

After seeing Fontes' stage times in Rallye de Portugal, do you still think he is at the peak of his rally career and would be able to win the ERC?

Yep. I know Fontes for a long time and I’m pretty sure of what he’s capable. Although Rally de Portugal doesn’t count for national championship, there was a big pressure from sponsors and media to have him doing it, but his mind was already in Açores, as the car must be shipped to the island next Wednesday. With no time for repairs, for sure the plan was to get on an easy pace and do some PR.

Anyway, I’m not expecting to see him fighting for the lead in Açores if he manages to be in a favorable position to get national championship points. Unfortunately, national drivers have become too much calculating over the years and probably only Moura will be free to go flat out (he already admitted he’s not fighting for national title this year).

Della Casa will start with WRC in Sardegna. I dont know if his start on Azores was planned or not.

So, since the Official presentation, no Tarabus(expected) and also Gryazin in 208 R2 instead of the Fabia R5. How many of those will be able to run the Qualifying Stage? All of the RC2? First 12?(would be fair within the national championship)
