Just realized the course of the Turini stage. Interesting variant, reversed 2010 IRC version. This time without snow though

In life we've all had something happen and you're left in a situation of - "okay, what is the likelihood I can get away with this?" And I think Latvala probably thought he had a solid argument that might get him out of the blame. I think if that video hadn't surfaced showing the guy get flung then Latvala wouldn't have had an issue. It's just not great PR to see that sort of thing happening, even at slow speed, especially in 2016 where that video will go viral across social media.

If he had balls he'd turn around and fire back at the ACM about crowd safety - and the fact he's been put in that situation.

That's a poor argument. He hit a spectator, didn't have the decency to stop for a few secs to check. He mowed the guy down and drove on. You can't say "Oh, the guy shouldn't have been there (which certainly he and the others shouldn't have been) it wasn't my fault so why should I stop". It happened and he didn't seem to care if the guy had 2 broken legs or worse. That's the point. Hit and run.

Not arguing with what you're saying - and at no point did I say Latvala did the right thing. There is however still an argument to be had about spectator safety on this event.
