26 starts of Fabia R5 till today and only one technical problem resulting in retirement (faulty battery for Kremer in Portugal). Pretty good I would say. The only problem is that they deliver very slowly (but most likely if they deliver faster the reliability would be worse).

Fabia R5 Combi appears to be a real working rally car.. shame they didn't use it for a zero car on the rally:

Would You pay hundred thousand Euro for it? There's no chance they would sell enough of them to make them profitable in some reasonable price (hundreds thousand). Such thing is economical nonsese.

I think Sulland was suggesting the R5 body, but with a standard drivetrain.
But I suppose even that would be complicated as you then have to have wider axles e.t.c.

I know. My comment was exactly about such "stock wide car".
The problem is that people see only different parts which are needed but they don't see all the other things behind. Logistics, production line, development activities, testing of all components and cars, after-sale services, training for workers, mechanics, marketing of another car etc. etc...Stupid is as stupid does. I think it's impossible to make such a "wide-body" version of any car on a regular production line, it's much more complicated than some people on this forum think... Skoda is not even considering making an RS-version of their Fabia because it's not profitable. All it takes for them is some better suspension, sporty interior, their DSG-gearbox and a tuned 1.4 TSI-engine they already have... Still it's not profitable, probably because there is a lot of supply for very little demand in this market... Then why even think about a wide-body "rally-look-alike-car"? Everybody would love to see a wide-body Fiesta or Polo, but it will not happen. Also such a wide car would be impractical for parking and for passing other cars on narrow roads.

On the other hand it is not customerīs fault you can use only one engine 1,2 TSI 81 kW to have your Fabia little bit sporty. Do you hear it? 1,2 TSI for a Godīs sake!!! It had to be solved before they started the production.
Visit South Moravia. It is the real paradise
