At about 1:35 Abbring lands and it looks pretty close to disaster! For years we have been told in programmes, on tickets, by marshals etc, don't stand anywhere after a jump. On the approach the spectators are far too close as well.

Sorry, but if the FIA are serious about safety then they need to review videos from that spot, because if a car had gone off it would have been absolutely tragic. I like to stand in a thrilling place myself, but that just looks like there is no control whatsoever. Looks like an event from the '80s!

    The early/mid 80s

Is it a coincidence that all the places where speccies are all seemingly willing to die are all Catholic countries?

Back from one of the most spectacular events I've seen so far, but also one of the worst organized. It's very difficult to get access to the stages, but once you are on them, nobody cares about what anyone is doing. Most marshalls are like 18-20 year old students who have no authority at all, one of them told me he had never seen a rally before...

I was at the jump that's discussed here. We did recce of the stage and thought that this would be completely mad, and it was... On the first run I arrived a bit late and it was almost impossible to get a good and safe spot. For the first cars I was somewhere before the landing, but so many people with phones, selfie-sticks and gopro cameras ruin your view/photo completely. Then moved to the complete end of the row behind all spectators and the marshalls so there was nobody in my way if I had to jump away. I left after Kubica because it was too crazy for me as some other people started standing behind me. It's a shame when you find a great spot but have to leave if you don't want to get killed... On the run back we saw the crash of Abbring, it's a real miracle that no spectators were hit. On the 2nd loop we returned and took a spot before the jump. Also the security behind it was better (not perfect, but better). What you get to see there is unimaginable (but only for a few drivers, that needs to be said too).

Security is a major problem not only on this place. Sometimes on some places it's extremely strict, on other place there's no safety at all. On shakedown a large group of spectators decided to ignore the forbidden areas after the 0-car had passed, marshalls were clueless.

With some good planning we got to see relatively calm places which were always very impressive! For somebody who loves fast corners this is the best event you can imagine. It's quite similar to Finland but much more open and with less crests, so there are better/longer views. When you do recce on these stages it's very hard to imagine how the approach will be, because it's almost straight when you drive it at normal/slow speed with a normal car. Seeing WRC drivers come towards a corner at (almost) top speed, then quickly touch the brakes and pull the steering wheel in order to put the car in position (completely sideways), already something like 40 or more meters before a long corner... It's crazy. It's unbelievable how drivers can go this much on the limit on new stages after only 2x recce, without crashing...

Sorry for the off topic: the censorship activity in the forum has began today or has been around and I've didn't notice before??? :-)

The organizers could have made it easier for the spectators standing further from the road by cutting down some of the very tall grass lining the stages, not sure if i would do this rally myself because i would have to take too much risk finding good video spots. They are very good at this in Finland.
