I know, but didn't S2000 have quite a long gearbox too? I'm not saying it is all down to the top speed but this is certainly the R5's most convincing performance so far.

no serious competition from rrc /s2000 cars.Even Nasser would be slower at these kinds of roads against Lappi Kruuda Tidemand

Fabia S2000 long gearbox has top speed about 190 km/h. The R5 circa 195 km/h. 208 T16 with long gearbox has little over 200 km/h, Citroën shall be probably similar. Fiesta R5 has top speed little bellow 190 with long gearbox. For RRC cars it's possible to use whole WRC gear range. If they are all with long gearboxes they have no big differences between themselves.

    Ott Tänak at Tyre Zone:

"It's been a really enjoyable morning. The stages are so fast and really good fun to drive. In places I've actually been pushing quite hard just because I love it so much!

"We've had quite a few issues with the brakes. On the second half of the long stage [SS5] we only had the front brakes and no brakes at all in some corners! It was a bit challenging but I really want to keep the speed up and we are looking to manage the situation.

"Luckily this is a fast rally so you don't need to use the brakes too much. We'll just keep it flat ..."
