Solberg is a privateer and Monster are a big sponsor, who can blame him?
Can't wait to see him in action again this year. He has been the best thing to happen to rallycross in the last couple of years; few drivers are as consistently entertaining as he is on track."If in doubt... flat out!"

Yeah. It's a fine balance at the moment as, although some elements of the sport have become less pure with Monster backing, the fundamentals of the sport have been retained.
I just hope Monster don't deviate massively from the roots of the sport and turn it into car park racing like the GRC or move it beyond the reach of the average privateer (there are enough traditional rallycrossers behind the IMG/Monster sponsorship I hope that doesn't happen though)."If in doubt... flat out!"

Energy drinks are the new cigarettes - not in the cancer giving way, just cost of production of this caffeine laced gassy water with sugar is probably 1penny / 1 cent to make and can retail at £1,30. Awash with money these companies. Same with Marlboro / Camel / Lucky Strike (note how sponsorship has an effect on a never smoked person) - the cost of production is so low compared with sale price plus the huge tax element.

From ERC24.com:
'European fan favourite Petter Solberg, who is both a previous WRC title holder [2003] as well as the current World Rallycross Champion looks to build on his hugely successful second year, entering 2015 in his third season since his return to the sport in 2013. Liam Doran widely recognised as Britain’s hottest Rallycross prospect and two-time X Games gold medallist completes the formidable team. The joining of forces was admittedly made easier due to the fact that the drivers both run with Citroën DS3 SuperCars, as Per-Espen Løchen of the SDRX team suggested, stating in said press conference that both drivers have individual sponsorship agreements. Therefore, to run a two car team cost no extra money, needs just a new logo, and makes sense in the quest for the team championship title.'#M-SPORTER

Nice to see that we only have 4 hamburger boys this year, lets hope they go away to Mcdonalds in the following years so the championship can gain some more credibility...
