Conditions matter more than driving skills... the lower runners pretty much run one a much less icy road... nevertheless Loebs performance on this stage is something beyond comprehension given the circumstances... Originally Posted by jacko

Rally always had an endurance element. And I remember the (mainly Scandinavian) drivers moaning about long days, night stages, lack of sleep and it being dangerous way back in the 80's on the RAC...
