Mercedes will be sponsoring Rally Finland next year and according to this article they have studied possibilities about a WRC entry.

But I guess it's something between the national importer of Mercedes-Benz and the Finnish federation, and it has little to do with Mercedes getting involved in rallying. Also rallye-magazin.de has a long history of publishing crap-articles.
