Look at Neuvilles speed in the Ford last year. Use Mads Østberg as a benchmark. Look at Paddon in Finland this year, use Neuville as a benchmark. Look at Mikkelsen in a Skoda in Poland in 2009, use everybody else as a benchmark. Look at Pontus Tidemans speed in Sweden in a private Ford in 2013, compare that to the same driver in a factorys spec Ford in 2014. Look at the differences in speed of Latvala when he is on form, and when he is not - in the same car. Look at Østberg vs Meeke in Finland this year. In the same car. Østberg with a lot more experience in botth WRC cars, and in Finland. Still, Meeke much faster.

The problem is that when the drivers dont drive fast enough the first assumption is that it is the car that is at fault. If Neuville was not at Ford last year, You would have written of the Ford as a slow car, because You would set Mads as the benchmark, believing he was driving the Ford to the max. As You are doing right now, thinking Mikko is really on it, its just the car, and Ogier would have no chance in a Ford.

Instead You should be preoccupied with finding out why Mikko Hirvonen suddenly drives at the speed of the novice Evans. Why is he suddenly so slow?

Off cource there is some differences between the cars, but they are much smaller than You think. They are so small that Ogier would fight for wins in a Hyundai, Ford, Citroën or a VW.
blah blah blah blah... wake up.

No way Latvala without the VW would be 1 min ahead of Sordo/Neuville/Meeke and winning stages while these 3 are risking everything... the opposite would be much likely. Go to bed... you are tired.

The hyundai Citroen Ford are close yes and maybe so equal that the drivers is the only difference but VW is way ahead.
