You cannot know in advance who's going to be the fastest driver during the weekend or start changing the cameras from car to another during the event.
In addition, obviously WRC2 drivers pay a higher entry fee for both the season and single rally, so it's justified for their sponsors to get more TV exposure in return (even though even they are not really getting anything)
I agree with your logic here. We saw very well last year how Toyota did with just Evans and Katsuta being full time drivers. They lost the drivers title and only won the manufacturer title...
