I think that disqualification from the Grand Prix and a suspended race ban to be activated if he gets up to anything like that again would have been appropriate.

Rally always had an endurance element. And I remember the (mainly Scandinavian) drivers moaning about long days, night stages, lack of sleep and it being dangerous way back in the 80's on the RAC...
