Why should you be concerned Rudy? Either way you are reimbursed your expenses. The fact that your per-diem previously covered more than your expenses was just bonus. Per-diem is not considered income and you could be subject to taxation on the difference.

Two things. I am not reimbursed all of my expenses. Just a part. Nobody told me the deal had changed. Had I known about it, I would have been spending more conservatively. E.g. I would have been using metro instead of taxi.

Second, I'm not a volunteer. I do my job, I get paid, I have a decent travel package. If they send me to an expensive city I need to have an acceptable standard of living.

What happened is not a disaster, though. It's still negotiable, and I might still get reimbursed. I'm just pretty sensittive when it comes to money.
