I assume Camel increased their sponsorship, because that airbox became yellow and had the Camel logo on it a race or so later.

The nose, aspects of the airbox and the aerofoil.
Only those ears above the front suspension are similar.
Both cars have 4 wheels and engine and a driver, front and rear wings, that's about it as far as similarities go.

It was also the last Williams that WASN'T designed by Adrian Newey (well until 1998 anyway!), so I'd be surprised to see any Newey lineage in there at all.

Regarding the white airbox, from what I remember, this only appeared at Phoenix 1991 and Interlagos 1991, and maybe Imola. I have no idea why but I'm guessing Arrows is probably right, with ICI gone at the end of 1990, and Camel only supplying a small amount of funds (as they did for the likes of Larrousse in the late 80s), so the airbox went white in deference to Canon, then they must have changed their deal with Camel to get the airbox looking yellow again, just as it bloody well should

    Well spotted.

It's just our new expert forum member who thinks that mentioning the word nose, airbox and airfoil make it right.

Had Flavio done any design copying, of course, it would be deemed entirely acceptable and the other teams would be called 'weak' for having not done likewise.

Saint Devote mentioned the 1990 Williams airbox being similar to the Red Bull - and while it isn't, it is similar in general principle in that the air inlet sticks out forward of the bodywork, but that is not unique to the RB, all cars are like that now. This trend reappared with Williams and Jordan in 1997 and soon became universal, presumably because it gave more and/or cleaner airflow into the engine. Maybe Williams had the right idea back in 1990 but since the car was poor by Williams standard (presumably for other reasons), combined with the fact that it was (and still is!) uglier than the simpler holes that were on virtually all other early 90s cars, they gave up on the idea?

    Jordan 197 (similar to 1990 Williams): http://b.f1-facts.com/ul/a/5214

Interesting analysis of the airbox shapes back in the 90's.
Now you reminded me how beautiful those 90's F1 cars were.
