    In 2019 they decided to limit the total competitive action to 350kms so that probably didn’t help, likewise covid.

    It's not clear how much he lost time before he changed. But seems, that there were a bit lost on notes when they started after changing.

    That is true but in 2018, only three rallies had itinerary in excess of 350 kilometers and only one by any significant amount (Monte 388 km) - so this limitation was mainly theoretical.
